Job Summary: Outpatient Counselor Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) position performs intakes, prepares assessments, and establishes a diagnosis; treatment plans and performs group and individual psychotherapy, completing documentation within 24 hours. BHP is responsible for intake and service plan reviews when performed by a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) or other non-licensed Behavioral Health (BH) staff. BHP reports to the Clinical Director of Integrated Care to ensure compliance with legal and licensure requirements in the provision of BH services. Provides clinical oversight and support to behavioral health and integrated programs within Crossroads as needed. Adheres to Arizona Board of Behavioral Health rules and regulations to maintain unimpeded licensure.

Essential Functions:
- Maintain the highest standard of substance use disorder and mental health treatment services including assessment, treatment planning, and psychotherapy, while providing programming to promote successful outcomes.
- Maintain caseload set forth by supervisor, provide comprehensive direct services, case management, individual counseling, group facilitation, and other programmatic requirements.
- Proficient in clinical written communications, have complete understanding of all documentation requiring BHP signature and be able to complete said documentation signatures in a timely fashion.
- Liaise with other clinical and non-clinical staff to identify and address needs, coordinate care, and bridge gaps in care.
- Provide clinical oversight as needed to clinical and non-clinical staff that will enhance job performance.
- Understand behavioral health licensure, local, state, and federal laws, rules and regulations.
- Receive daily task for BHP reviews and complete the review process within time allowance as per AZBBHE regulations.
- Daily review of Integrated Care audit reports, with timely response of corrections as needed.
- Provide therapeutic intervention and/or support to clients in crisis and/or at high risk for relapse.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding.
- Perform other duties, as required.
Qualifications:
- Must meet Arizona Department of Health Services personnel member requirements of: at least 21 years old; or licensed or certified under A.R.S. Title 32 and providing services within the personnel member's scope of practice.
- Current CPR/First Aid/Narcan training.
- Current and annual negative TB Test.
- Current and valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check performed annually and upon hire, preferred.
- Successfully pass a background check and an Arizona Department of Health Services Adult Protective Services check.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Topaz/Nextgen as well as Kipu EHR software preferred.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact effectively with internal and external audiences.
- Must be creative, maintain high ethical standards and demonstrate sound judgment, problem solving skills, effective management skills, and strong organizational skills.
- Direct service provision experience and a working knowledge of addiction, recovery, and psychotherapy.
Education & Experience:
- Master’s degree in related field.
- Hold and maintain a valid independent license with Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.
- 2 years related behavioral health experience preferred.
Work Environment:
- Fast paced behavioral health outpatient setting.
- Primarily indoors, however, some outdoor work may be requested.
Physical Demands:
- While performing job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit and speak or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and seldom lift and/or move >100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Shift Requirements:
- Days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Travel:
- Valid AZ Driver’s License.
- May include travel between sites and other locations.
- Local and statewide travel when requested or required.
