What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Minister position at Crossroads Mustang Church?
Overview
Crossroads Mustang (formerly Mustang First United Methodist Church), currently serves as an independent congregation that is rooted in Wesleyan theology. The congregation voted to disaffiliate from the United Methodist Church in the fall of 2023. The Student Minister plays a vital role in fostering spiritual growth and development among students within the church community. This position involves leading youth programs, providing mentorship, and creating an inclusive environment where students can explore their faith. The Student Minister is responsible for the development, execution, and oversight of all Student Ministries from Mid-High through Senior High age levels within the life of the congregation.
Duties
- Develop, plan, and deliver discipleship programming specific to students.
- Lead large group worship and teaching activities, as well as small groups intended for accountability, relationship support, and mentoring.
- Lead students on retreats, mission trips, team building activities, and camps.
- Promote evangelistic outreach and membership development of students and their families.
- Development and oversight of the student Confirmation process within Crossroads Mustang.
- Identify, recruit, develop, and support the number of volunteers necessary within the program.
- Oversight of administrative responsibilities associated with Student Ministries under the supervision of the Senior Minister, including the development and maintenance of departmental budgets.
- Other duties as assigned and necessary.
Experience
- Undergraduate degree (preferably in a related field).
- Two or more years in direct Student Ministry
Skills and Abilities
- A willingness to work toward an advanced degree (MDiv-MA) with a focus on Student Ministry.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively present ideas and engage with students of various ages.
- Familiarity with event planning processes to successfully organize youth activities.
- A passion for educating youth about their faith and supporting them in their spiritual journeys.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate and work effectively with groups and individuals, and to manage conflict.
- Must possess the ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programs and ministries.
- Must possess the ability to build and maintain strong teams of volunteers through participatory management.
- Must possess the ability to manage a dynamic and fluid work environment featuring multiple projects.
- Must possess the ability to identify the actions necessary to complete tasks and obtain results.
- Must serve as a positive Christian role model.
- Must have the personal interest and schedule flexibility to be involved in student activities beyond the walls of the congregation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
