Description
- Support the Head of the Elementary School and admin team with faculty growth, curriculum development and student learning initiatives K-5.
- Provide Instructional Coaching to grade level teams and specialist teachers. Model mastery teaching of Phonics, Reading, Writing and Math workshops. Give and receive feedback.
- Lead student-centered discussions with faculty by listening empathetically, considering multiple perspectives, and leaning into transformative conversations. Be willing to say the hard thing.
- Partner with teams in amplifying differentiation, flexible small group learning, and co-teaching, as well as integrating social justice across curricular areas.
- Support the hiring and retention of exceptional faculty and staff.
- Collaborate with the Learning Specialist, Counselor and other members of the student support team.
- Oversee the Elementary School’s faculty feedback and growth system, new faculty mentorship and associate teacher professional development.
- Coordinate meaningful professional development in partnership with faculty and curriculum coordinators (Literacy, Math, DEI, and Life Skills).
- Support vertical curriculum alignment K-5 and organize Curriculum Overviews.
- Manage, collect and evaluate assessment data in literacy and math.
- Maintain achievement data in student records.
- Coordinate, manage, and maintain student progress communication and reports
- Present curriculum to current and prospective families at parent education events.
- Support the Admissions department with file reading, tour talks and other events.
- Support faculty and students on two overnight experiential outdoor education trips.
- Assist with ordering curriculum resources and instructional materials.
- Integral member of ES Leadership Team
- Support and provide professional development to Associate Teachers
- Serve on divisional and all school committees as needed
- Help align the school’s mission with the ES
- Assist in fulfilling the K-12 strategic plan of enhancing school wellness from an academic perspective
- Partner with families: Coordinate parent education, experiential outdoor education trips, and admissions events. Communicate XRDS curriculum and pedagogy to current and prospective families. Read admissions files and conduct family interviews. Support student academic and social emotional learning as needed.
- Deepen ES collaborative practices: Collaboration is an integral practice at the ES. The ability to support and foster growth and skills in collaboration among faculty is imperative.
Qualifications
- BA required, Masters preferred
- Minimum 5 years teaching experience and demonstrated growth and advancement in responsibilities
- Professional experience in progressive models of education and curricula
- Strong cultural competency skills and track record of successfully working with families from diverse backgrounds
- Exemplary skills in team building and complex constituent and project management
- Experience with innovative assessment models for high school students
- Proficiency in word processing, MS Office, Google Docs, and Blackbaud learning management system
- A friendly, gracious, professional manner and outlook
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Impeccable ethics and a demonstrated commitment to confidentiality
- Fluency in Spanish or a language other than English is preferred
