Salary Range: $29.00 Hourly
Position Overview
- The primary purpose of this position is to be a part of the Elementary School year-round classroom, afterschool and summer programs.
- Associate Teachers are paired with a grade level (two classrooms and four teachers) in grades K-5 for the academic year. They support the grade level team, teaching, observing, and collaborating with other teachers.
- In the Afterschool Program, Associate teachers will create a safe space for students as well as interact, play with and create relationships with students. Responsibilities may include support with homework help and enrichment classroom management.
- Responsibilities during the Summer Program may include leading classes, supporting specialized programs and assisting with office management and parent correspondence.
- Minimum for 40 hours/week Monday-Friday. Schedule will be set based on grade level placement and seasonal needs. Vacation time is set for beginning of August to be taken after the end of summer programs and prior to the start of school year meetings. An additional week off may be required at spring break.
Essential Job Functions
- Support the classroom teachers and the afterschool and summer programs with supervision of the students
- Participate in classroom and the afterschool and summer programs preparation, organization and logistical responsibilities
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom, afterschool and summer environment that honors and nurtures each child’s individual identity
- Arrange and monitor indoor and outdoor use of space
- Organize, supervise, setup, and cleanup of students at snack and lunch
- Set up and cleanup of student projects
- Photocopy and organize materials for teachers and students
- Decorate classrooms, common areas and bulletin boards
- Enthusiasm and involvement in student activities in the classroom, afterschool, and summer programs
- Ability to interact well with children, parents, faculty and staff
- Ability to manage large groups of students
- Develop warm and respectful relationships with students
- Identify and respond to individual students’ learning differences and creates enrichment opportunities with the teachers they work with
- Collaborate with Student Support Services to meet the needs of individual learners (academically and behaviorally)
- Supervise students at recess, walk up pick-up, lunch, afterschool etc.
- Chaperone field trips and overnight outdoor education trips in 4th grade and 5th grades (if assigned to those grades)
- Other duties as needed to support students and the school year round
- Participate in assemblies and other special events as needed
- Office management skills
- Proficient in correspondence with parents

- Minimum of an undergraduate degree
- Desire to pursue a career in education
- Strong computer skills
- Prior experience working directly with children grades K-5 in a school, camp, or daycare setting
- Knowledge of Crossroads philosophy and the ES approach to learning is preferred
- Strong preference for individuals in credentialing and/or advanced degree programs in Education
- Commitment to professional growth, reflective practice, and growth mindset
- Strong ability to work collaboratively
