Position Description:
Under the direction of the Health Information Manager and Medical Records Supervisor, the Medical Records Clerk will work as part of the medical record team performing the day to day tasks to ensure referrals and medical records are routed and filed in a timely and accurate manner within the patient’s electronic medical record. This position will be assisting the Neurosurgery team in their imaging download and document routing/filing.
Duties:
- Properly filing, routing and labeling patient information into the patient’s electronic health record.
- Responsible for managing direct messages for physicians and all clinical staff.
- Acquires documentation for physicians and other clinicians as requested for review, quality assurance checks and other purposes. Specifically, tracking down and obtaining diagnostic tests including X-Ray, MRI’s, CT scans, etc. from other facilities for upcoming appointments and surgeries.
Requirements:
- HS Diploma or equivalent.
- An Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management, Health Administration, Radiology or related field is strongly preferred.
- Certification as an RHIT, RHIA or in the process of obtaining is strongly preferred.
- Two (2) years of medical office experience working with medical records required, within Neurosciences highly preferred.
- Demonstrated organizational experience in a medical office.
- Knowledge and experience with Electronic Health Record and Practice Management Systems, preferably Medent or Epic.
- Knowledge and experience with imaging software/applications preferred, such as PACS and/or Ambra.
- Strong knowledge of Medical Terminology and HIPAA.
- Excellent communication, analytical, computer and multi-tasking skills required.
- Proven ability to work independently with excellent time management skills.
- Must have own personal laptop and access to high-speed internet.
Upon completion of training, this will be a remote position, but the candidate hired must live in Central New York.
Pay Range: $15.50-$18.00 DOE
Salary : $16 - $18
