Position Description:
A Nursing Assistant's (NA) scope of practice includes helping patients with basic care and activities of daily living. They work under the supervision of Licensed Practical Nurses or Registered Nurses.
Responsibilities:
- Measure and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, heart rate and temperature
- Help patients move about the room and guide them in doing range-of-motion exercises
- Supports and actively contributes to the achievement of the patient's goals associated with the plan of care.
- Individualizes communication based on the needs of the patients and families
- Update electronic medical record chart for each patient
- Report changes in a patient's condition to their supervising nurse
- Provide companionship and take on a caregiver-like role
Limitations:
- Cannot administer injections, including insulin
- Cannot perform tube feeding
- Cannot perform bowel evacuation
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have one year of patient care experience, or is currently attending an accredited Registered Nursing program and has successfully completed the fundamentals of nursing coursework
- Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at the time of hire or within two (2) weeks after hire date
Pay Range: $15.50-$20.00/hour DOH
Salary : $16 - $20
