Job Description:
As the Service Department Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the service department. This includes leading a team of technicians, ensuring all service work is completed in a timely, efficient, and high-quality manner, while maintaining an excellent customer experience. You will report directly to the Service Manager and play a key role in achieving the department’s operational goals.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Lead and Supervise Technicians: Oversee the work of technicians to ensure they are following proper procedures, delivering quality service, and meeting department goals.
- Work Scheduling and Coordination: Plan, schedule, and assign jobs to technicians based on skillset and availability, ensuring timely completion of all service requests.
- Ensure Quality Control: Review all service and repair work to ensure it meets company standards, manufacturer specifications, and customer expectations.
- Customer Interaction: Address customer concerns or inquiries about service work, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Parts and Inventory Management: Coordinate with parts department to ensure necessary parts and materials are available for service work. Maintain an accurate inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Training and Development: Provide ongoing training and mentorship to technicians, helping to foster a collaborative and skilled workforce.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce and promote safety standards and ensure the service area is maintained in a clean and organized manner, complying with all OSHA guidelines.
- Performance Monitoring: Track technician performance, providing feedback and conducting regular performance evaluations.
- Efficiency and Cost Management: Optimize workflows and manage labor costs while maintaining a high level of service quality.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Service Foreman or in a similar leadership role within the automotive/truck repair industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of truck service and repair processes.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred: Technical or Vocational degree).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
