Job Description:

A Business Analysis Lead is emerging as a coach and leader for the Business Analyst practice in the firm. While they have day-to-day duties as a functioning Business Analyst, they could start transitioning to a less active role on a development team. A Business Analyst Lead is a master of their craft and will desire to share this expertise to help others grow. They will coach other Business Analysts and help their teams grow in maturity, as they will be involved with establishing good, efficient processes and setting the standards for their team. In addition, a Business Analyst Lead should be assisting the Business Analyst Manager/Practice Lead in setting the expectations and standards for the Business Analyst role in the firm. Finally, in their personal growth, a Business Analyst Lead should be thinking about the next step in their career, including whether they want to continue honing their skills as a Business Analyst or if they would like to start exploring another career path such as the Product Owner or Scrum Master career path.

Responsibilities:

  • Documents user stories and supporting documents for the team and can adapt documentation to meet the needs of the team
  • Facilitates the gathering of requirements through discussions with stakeholders and the development team
  • Learns how to use the supported software product(s), picks up on software generalities, gets up-to-speed quickly on a software product, and sees the product's capabilities
  • Learns about the supported department’s business and workflows and efficiently applies that knowledge to software solutions
  • Uses tools to create wireframes and workflows that support different options and recommendations and has advanced knowledge of which artifacts will meet the need of the situation
  • Knows the different roles and responsibilities on the team and how the BA fits into that team
  • Knows the successful ways of implementing software and Agile processes on their team and can be looked to for answering questions the team might have
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of the organization, from executives to peers
  • Possesses the ability to effectively fill in for a Product Owner or Scrum Master during short absences
  • Plays a key role in growing the software development and/or agile maturity of the team
  • Helps play a role in ensuring the team processes are being performed/followed by team members
  • Provides input on team processes while also calling out gaps or risks that they see. When they find a gap or risk in the team process, they have ideas on ways that the gap/risk can be resolved
  • Counsels team members to resolve conflict when needed
  • Helps to move impediments by helping the team ensure a resolution is found
  • Mentors and coaches other Business Analysts on the team on all aspects of being a Business Analyst
  • Pursues a better understanding around the concepts of Business Analyst Best Practices and encouraging and coaching other Business Analysts on these best practices
  • Assists the Business Analyst Manager in identifying when Business Analyst standards need to be established

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Systems or engineering fields, or equivalent experience
  • 9 – 12 years of relevant experience
  • Possesses a coaching attitude and is willing to share knowledge to help others grow
  • Expert level of writing user stories/requirements
  • In depth understanding of Product Development and Software Development Life Cycles and able to educate others
  • Experience with mockups/prototypes to display visual requirements and concepts
  • Experience working on a project with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities or initiatives
  • Excellent organizational skills with a self-starter mentality and resourcefulness in solving problems to ensure teams have what they need to deliver
  • Comfort level with Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tools
  • Business Analyst, Agile, or Scrum related certifications required

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Crowe, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $91,300.00 - $199,700.00 per year.
