Role
The Network Engineer will perform a broad range of implementation and technical project management duties on a team of engineers active in both sustaining and growing the Crown Castle Fiber Network. The individual will be well versed in IP/Ethernet architectural discipline, and have a strong understanding of SD-WAN design concepts. He/she will work as a member of a Managed Solutions team to complete major initiatives that are customer facing. The individual will demonstrate a willingness to grow their skill set and take on new challenges.

Additional Information: The salary range offered for this position is $97,400 - $133,900 per year. A candidate’s offer is determined by various factors including but not limited to, depth of experience, role-related knowledge and skills, relevant education or training, internal alignment, and work location. Depending on the position offered, the compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of a discretionary annual cash bonus or commissions, and equity incentives. Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive a minimum of 18 days of paid time off each year and 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.

Responsibilities
- Design and execute SD-WAN solutions for customer networks, reconfiguration, upgrade and optimization projects
- Commission hardware in support of network growth and expansion
- Troubleshoot and provide network design support on complex issues
- Network issue identification and remediation. Complete engineering tasks on projects
- Provide technical leadership and manage projects, responsible for completion of all related work on time and within budget.
- Develop and maintain internal engineering documents and procedures surrounding network configuration, client configuration, network management, and service level design.
- Strong planning, time management and organizational skills
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks with minimal direct supervision
- Detail oriented and possess the desire and ability to work in a collaborative environment, occasionally in a mentorship role with less experienced team members.
- Bachelor’s degree in a Science/ Technology field or equivalent professional experience, education, and/or training
- Preferred industry certifications such as CCIE, JNICIE, CCNP, JNCIA or equivalent
- 4 years of telecommunications experience working for or with service provider networks
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in designing, deploying and troubleshooting major carrier-grade equipment platforms from Juniper, Cisco, Ciena and others in a service provider environment.
- Experience with the following: QinQ, G.8032, 802.3ad, 802.3ag, STP, PBT, VPLS, MPLS, Traffic Engineering, BGP, IS-IS, IPv6
- Understanding of BGP, IS-IS, IPv6, OSPF and MPLS, Traffic Engineering, QinQ, G.8032, 802.3ad, 802.3ag, Y.1731
- Understanding of VPN technologies such as L2VPNs (Martini, Kompella), RFC2547, and VPLS.
- Familiarity with Metro Ethernet products & solutions as defined by MEF
- Experience implementing or troubleshooting Layer 3 and above routing platforms and technology, including IPSec Tunneling and eBGP routing overlays
- Ability to diagnose and resolve routing issues, congestion problems, and hardware and software failures.
- Access company applications, systems or tools that access customer data, financial data, or personally identifiable information (PII). Subject to local and state eligibility, a pre-employment background check will be conducted for criminal convictions, including misdemeanors and felonies related to fraud or violence.
- Experience working with Tier 2/3 ISP environment using Cisco and/or Juniper routing hardware.
- Knowledge of Domain Name Service policies and Address management in both public and private networks.
- Familiar with common SD-WAN vendor platforms such as Versa, Palo Alto, Cisco Meraki, Broadcom Velo Cloud, and Fortinet
- Knowledge of network security best practices; develop and maintain Acceptable Use Policy for IP Network, Firewall and Filtering policies.
- Technical certifications from Juniper or Cisco.
- Experience deploying complex networks on Versa SD-WAN or similar platforms.
- Experience with implementation of scripting and automation tools.
- Ability to perform duties outside of normal business hours as required
