Job Title: Warehouse Operator
Summary:
A key role in the warehouse operations team, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment. This position involves operating powered industrial trucks, placing inventory in correct locations, loading outbound truck trailers, and performing visual inspections of aluminum cans and packaging quality.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures all equipment, guards, and safety devices are in place at all times, and follows safe work procedures and safety rules.
- Operates powered industrial trucks to pull pallets from the outgoing conveyor line and transport inventory to the warehouse.
- Places inventory in warehouse to correct locations and stages orders for shipment.
- Loads outbound truck trailers with aluminum cans efficiently and accurately to ensure safe transport to customer.
- Understands daily production schedule and corresponds with management, leads, and coworkers accordingly.
- Performs visual inspection of aluminum cans and packaging quality.
- Ensures dunnage (pallets, slip sheets, top frames etc) are available in outgoing area when Relief operator is breaking out coworkers.
- Transfers HFI'd pallets to proper storage locations.
- Assists in poor packing issues in outgoing department.
- Monitors equipment, processes, or schedules, and reports problems to supervisor.
- Follows all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and communicates with proper personnel as concerns or issues arise.
- Assist QA in locating pallets for sampling.
- Keeps equipment and all areas safe, clean, and organized through proper housekeeping.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements:
- 2-3 years previous experience in forklift manufacturing/production.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good record keeping skills.
- Good listening skills.
- Ability to understand and speak basic English.
- Must be Crown certified to operate powered industrial trucks.
Work Environment:
- Regularly required to stand, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.
- Required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Sometimes sits, climbs or balances.
- Lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
- Exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
- Noise level is usually loud.
