The Plant Engineer is a key member of the Operations Division, responsible for managing maintenance and repair across all areas of the plant.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Oversee full wastewater treatment systems.
- Prepare and administer the department budget within established guidelines for maintenance and repair of building and equipment.
- Manage all processes and equipment to meet state and federal compliance requirements.
- Maintain plant quality performance standards.
- Able to manage and direct an engineering staff and workforce.
- Foster a teamwork-oriented philosophy.
- Responsible for all safety-related matters in the engineering department.
- Plan and oversee capital expenditure items, including equipment purchases, contracted labor, and in-house construction and fabrication projects.
- Provide on- and off-hour emergency response, including equipment repair, damage control, and assignment of support personnel as needed.
- Support EHS programs such as hazardous waste disposal.
- Provide necessary training to new and existing employees.
- Stay up-to-date on technological changes and advancements.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, with 3-5 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with modern equipment maintenance, high-speed forming presses, electrical systems, chilled water systems, compressed air systems, building maintenance, wastewater treatment, printing presses, and curing ovens.
- Leadership and management skills, including experience managing supervisors and hourly personnel.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Experience in capital project management, vendor management, and repair expense budgeting.
- Experience implementing and maintaining a plant preventative maintenance program.
- CMMS, work order, and storeroom/spare parts process experience.
- Approximately 10% overnight travel required.
Preferred Requirements:
- Packaging industry experience.
- Certification in Six Sigma (Green, Black, or Master Black Belt).
Competencies:
- Skills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CAD software.
- Proven problem-solving skills and analytical approaches.
- Project management experience.

Physical Requirements:
- Regularly sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Working Conditions:
- Perform job duties outside of the typical office setting in a plant environment.
- Exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicular traffic, and a wide range of temperatures.
