Division Overview:
Crown's Food Division is the number one manufacturer of food cans in the world. Our complete array of food packaging serves a variety of markets, including fruit, vegetables, dairy, fish, meat, ready meals, pet food, infant milk powder and other dry food products.
We offer a wide selection of food cans from round to bowl as well as shaped cans. We truly focus on excellence.
Location:
The Hanover Plant is located in Hanover, PA. The Plant manufactures 2-piece and 3-piece steel cans for the food industry over 7 shifts. There are approximately 95 employees at the Hanover location.
Position Overview:
The Slitter Machine Operator works closely with Supervision and Quality to ensure optimum levels in Quality Inspections, Package identification, and Final packaging.
This is a 1st shift position; 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Overtime is required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Check loads of plate for possible problems before running them on slitter.
- Accurately filling out production reports from load tickets.
- Inspect body blanks being produced for quality, margins, surface scratches, squareness, color variation.
- Feed body blanks into welder.
- Feed ends into Double Seamers and check the quality of ends.
- Empty slitter straw tubs and keep work area clean.
- Assist maintainer to produce good quality and quantity.
- Use Process Control to maintain good quality of work and monitor quality of products produced.
- Perform housekeeping and SQF related tasks throughout the shift and/or as assigned.
- Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Previous manufacturing experience.
- Must be able to work alternate shift schedules, including mandatory overtime, based on business need.
Preferred Requirements:
- High School Education/GED.
- 1 years manufacturing experience.
- Forklift experience.
- Knowledge of all OSHA related training in a manufacturing environment.
- 6S Training.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for 8-12 hour shifts.
Working Conditions:
- Generally, works in a plant environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to lifting, moving mechanical parts, and warehouse forklift traffic.
- May be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
- Production noise levels are frequently loud.
