Key responsibilities and accountabilities :
1. Investigate factory quality problems, customer and consumer complaints using a broad range of skills and techniques such as
Can performance testing Seam evaluations Coating performance tests Microscopy and metallography Plant trials Bev / Food processing simulation Provide reports with clear conclusions and recommendations 2. Manage and record work requests using appropriate IT systems
Prioritise work to ensure business needs are met and time is used effectively Work within the Technical Support Team to ensure all requests are dealt with and resources are allocated efficiently Liaise with other teams, departments and / or external resources to ensure the root cause of a problem can be established Maintain proactive communication with stakeholders Regularly review work for value added opportunities and update value added report Monthly reports 3. Contribute to the wider activities of Materials and Crown Technology
Proactive approach to environment, health and safety and energy saving initiatives Involvement in development and innovation teams as required Full participation in workshops ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Professional and academic qualifications :
Degree in science or engineering subject Several years relevant experience in a similar technical support role Previous experience
Demonstrated ability to work in a laboratory or manufacturing environment Skills and competencies
Excellent written communication skills Excellent interpersonal / verbal communication skills Able to manage and plan multiple work requests Personal attributes
Customer focussed problem solver Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision, but also effective as a member of a team Diligent and attention to detail Able to learn and apply new techniques quickly and effectively Enjoys a balance of practical work, job management and reporting Languages
English
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Continuous improvement (eg 6σ) trained Experience of metal packaging technology (beverage cans or metal vacuum closures) Beverage and or Food filling and processing Statistical knowledge Trained in one or more relevant investigation techniques Strategic thinker – able to translate problems into improvement opportunities
