What are the responsibilities and job description for the Low Voltage Cabling Technician position at Crown Networks?
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cabling Technician to assist in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems for telecommunications and network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent work ethic, a proven ability to deliver high-quality work on time and work well with others. As the Cabling Technician, you will work with a team of technicians and ensure the successful execution of cabling projects from start to finish.
Duties:
- Provide excellent customer service at all times.
- Work with a crew of 2-10 technicians throughout the completion of a project.
- Understand and interpret low voltage blueprints.
- Properly ground and bond equipment / IT racks.
- Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various cabling infrastructure.
- Pull, route, and terminate various types of cables, including Ethernet and fiber optic.
- Terminate RJ45 via CAT5E/6 in accordance with industry standards.
- Install and terminate fiber optic cables.
- Ensuring all cables are neatly routed, dressed, and bundled.
- Installation of cabling support components such as j-hooks, cable racks, and innerduct.
- Conduct tests to ensure all newly installed cable systems and component devices are operational.
- Troubleshoot device and or cabling issues.
- Remove and/or demo cables, cabling infrastructure, and equipment.
- Install wireless access points
- Install security cameras
- Install AV speakers and equipment
- Install TV monitors
- Report daily activities to management.
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards during all installations.
Qualifications:
- Excellent customer relationship and communication skills; verbal and written.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail.
- Self-starter, able to work independently or with a team.
- Data Cable Technician with CAT5e/6, fiber optic, and network experience.
- Related IT certifications desired (BICSI, Panduit, etc.)
- Experience identifying, installing, and repairing infrastructure cabling.
- Experience in low voltage cabling, smart hands network replacement, telephone, CCTV, and point-of-sale equipment is a plus.
- Available to travel up to 100% of the time.
- Regional travel is required daily. Travel outside of the local region will be required occasionally.
- Must be physically capable of climbing ladders, working in closets, rooftops, and construction sites.
- Ability to work in small spaces.
- Ability to lift 40 Lbs.
- Ability to operate a lift and complete work at heights.
- Has basic telecommunication tools and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Experience in conduit installation is a plus.
- Must have Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and no restrictions.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to pass a drug test.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
