Pipe Cutter

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for processing steel pipe according to work order instructions by cutting pipe to specified lengths and end requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Utilize cutting torch & welding equipment to make circumferential torch cuts to steel pipe.
• Utilize various hand tools and equipment. Must be able to read tape measure.
• Utilize mobile device applications and programs.
• Perform various mathematical calculations.
• Steel toe boots and sleeved shirts required. Employee’s responsibility.
• Hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, protective gloves provided by the company.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

• Steel toe boots and sleeved shirts required employee’s responsibility.
• Hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, protective gloves provided by the company.
• Must be able to work in changing ambient temperatures.
• Must be able to work on your feet for extended periods of time.
• Must have reliable transportation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to wear appropriate PPE, such as: steel toed boots, hard hat, eye protection and ear protection.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually high and appropriate ear protection is required. Additionally, this role may be exposed to workplace hazards, such as: fall hazards, traversing pinch points, working with flammable materials, sparks, and steel debris. Working around or near suspended loads involves the potential for a high risk of serious injury. Employee must be always aware of surroundings and wearing appropriate PPE.

Work is performed primarily in a production mill, warehouse, and/or outdoor settings. Including all weather conditions and temperature extremes, during day and night shifts. Work is often performed in emergency and stressful situations. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high, depending on role and location. Proper PPE, including ear plugs, must be always worn.
