Job Summary:
The Electrical Test Technician 3 will complete electrical testing of power distribution products during the manufacturing process based on established testing procedures. This position my require travel up to 10% per year to customer sites.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Read AC/DC schematics and wiring diagrams to perform testing of main electrical distribution AC/DC systems for power distribution control houses and panels
- Perform functional testing on various circuits including HVAC system, lighting, receptacles, fans, fire alarm systems, battery system, and megger cable
- Perform current/voltage injections, I/O checks and circuit breaker simulation testing on relay panels
- Work closely with engineering and production team members to ensure accurate, efficient and timely execution of required testing work
- Perform Factory Acceptance Testing with the customer, as required
- Perform testing on protection relays such as Schweitzer and General Electric
- Be able to troubleshoot assembly, wiring and testing problems
- Drafts detailed technical reports to present findings; based on findings, recommends modifications needed to correct production problems
- Perform customer site visits to resolve any field issues that may arise
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge in testing of three phase AC and DC control circuits.
- Knowledge in testing protection relays and panels
- Good working knowledge of standard electrical testing and measuring equipment
- Knowledge of Electrical Safety Procedures and NEC Codes
- Familiar with power distribution, protection relays, breakers, CT’s, PT’s, control houses and switchgear
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to discuss product flaws in a constructive and positive manner.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to prepare test reports and proposals.
Experience/Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- 5 years’ experience in power distribution electrical testing or related field
Physical Requirements:
- Periods of standing, walking, and sitting at a desk using a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time
- Must be able to traverse production facility to complete testing
- Ability to travel to customer sites when necessary - travel would be up to 10% per year.
- Must wear PPE, such as gloves, safety glasses, hard hat, and ear protection, while working on the production floor
