Description
The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist will assist with the development, coordination, and implementation of occupational health policies/ procedures including OSHA compliant policies/procedures while promoting and ensuring effective safety operations. The primary responsibilities are to perform Site Safety Observations within Crown Texas facility while assisting field installation teams in the adherence of Company, Federal, State and Customer safety regulations.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
- Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
- Provides technical and administrative support to the safety committee.
- Stops operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment.
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards.
- Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
- Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
- Reviews accident and incident reports to provide root cause analysis
- Actively participates in the Workman’s Comp administration process & serves as CTS’ subject matter expert in Return to Work program tasks.
- Create a secure environment for employees, contractors, vendors, and other personnel at the facility; coordinates security protocols in alignment with legal requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Understanding of risk management, first aid/CPR.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop, coordinate, and deliver safety related training.
- Strong analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well in a cross-functional team environment within all levels in the organization.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Experience/Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field required.
- At least five years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment required.
- Certifications: OSHA500 a plus; CSP strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections
- Travel Requirements: May need to travel to job sites for inspection purposes; less than 10% of time.
Salary : $67,000 - $75,000
