Housekeeping Laundry Attendant

Description

We're looking for a Laundry Attendant to join our team at the Crowne Plaza Lansing to sort, wash, clean, and organize all hotel laundry and linens, including banquet linens. This position is also responsible for distributing linen to designated areas and stocking closets as needed as well as help with removing linen and towels from the room. Pay starts at $16/hr.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Sort, weigh, wash, dry, iron, and fold laundry; as well as operate necessary equipment for these processes.
• Operate equipment in a cost-effective way; fill washer and dryer to capacity per standard.
• Organize and stock the linen closets on each floor of the hotel.
• Help to remove linens and towels from dirty rooms and transport to laundry chute or laundry room as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the entire work area using standard hotel cleaning products.
• Relay any issues or damaged equipment to Management in a timely manner for immediate action.
• Assist with quarterly inventory of linens and towels.
• Assist with stocking carts and delivering product, when necessary.
• Assist other housekeeping associates when staffing or business levels require.
• Answer housekeeping phone.
• Engage with colleagues using D.A.R.E. to Connect behaviors.
• May assist with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Specific job knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Meet time standards to ensure efficient workflow.
• Communication skills, written or verbal, in the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
• Ability to perceive and identify stains on towels and linens.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic reading, writing, and math
• Ability to navigate necessary software and applications.
• Ability to perceive and detect uncleanliness, soiled surfaces, and stains.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including, nights, weekends and/or holidays
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to meet time standards to ensure efficient workflow
  
  

Physical Demands

• Work tasks are performed indoors, in a basement setting.
• Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures ( 110 F) possibly for one hour or more.
• Frequently positions self to load/unload laundry machines, fold laundry, and sort laundry.
• Lift and transport up to 70 pounds on a regular and consistent basis, and maneuver equipment weighing up to 250 pounds on a regular and consistent basis.
• Frequent grasping, reaching, performing repetitive motions, and manual dexterity.
  
  

Qualifications And Requirements

• A high school or equivalent education is preferred. Prior hospitality experience is preferred.
• Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required.
• Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with Crowne Plaza Lansing rules and regulations for the safe and effective operations of the Hotel’s facilities. Associates who violate Hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including, separation.
