Laundry Attendant

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated linen types, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
• Ensure security of any assigned keys.
• Check with Supervisor and Housekeeping office for additional assignments throughout the shifts.
• Organize work duty priorities.
• Review assigned area and complete general removal of any trash or debris.
• Stock laundry cart and laundry closet with linen supplies.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of closet; remove trash; wipe down. shelves/counter/tables, sweep floor, clean lint traps at least twice daily.
• Clean designated areas with proper chemicals, tools, and equipment.
• Pre-sorting linens to locate and salvage stained or torn items.
• Loading and operating commercial washers and dryers.
• Folding and stacking towels, sheets, and other linens.
• Inspecting linens for stain/tears.
• Report any damages or maintenance problems to the Supervisor.
• Turn over any lost and found items to the Supervisor.
• Handle guest complaints by following the four step procedures, ensuring guest satisfactions.
• Stock Housekeeping carts with linen, if needed.
• Make up cribs and rollaway beds.
• Assist in housekeeping when required.
• Separates laundry and inspect for stains and repair items.
• Places laundry into washing machine using proper load capacity restrictions.
• Moves laundry from washers into dryer using proper temperature settings.
• Finishes laundry and folds.
• Inspects finished laundry to assure high quality standards.
• Reports all machine malfunctions to supervisor immediately.
• Always maintains proper stock levels to insure proper amounts of laundry are available to start the next day.
• Cleans guest rooms when assigned by manager.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by property management.
• Maintains security for guests and property by following all security and safety regulations. (i.e., cleans work area, removes all linen from dryer, turns off dryers at the end of the day, etc.)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays.
