What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cardiac Echo Sonographer position at Crozer Health?
Performs high quality cardiac stress tests and echocardiographic examinations. Performs duties in support of the Crozer-Keystone Health System and Hospital mission to ensure the highest quality of patient care in an economically sound and efficient manner. Age range of patient population served: adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
- Accurately enters patient information and exam information into ultrasound equipment prior to conducting echocardiograph exam. Accurately enters patient’s name, age, log number, date of exam, time of exam and initials of technician performing exam.
- Consistently locates best acoustical window and produces optimal cardiac images on paper and video for cardiologist’s review and interpretation.
- Completes all echocardiographic exams in a timely and efficient manner.
- Records all echocardiographic exams in the correct log books in accordance with Division of Cardiology’s policies and procedures. Accurately and thoroughly prepares and compiles echocardiographic exam studies daily for Cardiologists’ reading.
- Studies patient's echocardiogram requisition form to obtain vital information needed prior to the test - past heart disorders or special medication the patient has received.
- Checks each test requisition to be sure that the test is a valid request for the indicated patient (not a duplicate test), that the proper number coincides with the medical records, and that the proper charges are indicated.
Education and Training: Associate Degree in Cardiovascular Technology preferred.
Experience:
- One-year experience as an Echocardiographic Technician preferred.
- Registration, Licensure and/or Certification: CPR within three (3) months.
- Registry eligible by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or, by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) required. (Registration within six months required).
Skills: Operates diagnostic equipment; uses office and computer equipment; maintains filing systems and answers phones.
