What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor position at CRRC MA?
We are looking for a Production Supervisor to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the CRRC MA’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works with Production Planning to develop work schedules, equipment usage schedules, and procedures for railcar final assembly.
- Interprets specifications, blueprints, schematics and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
- Ensures budgeting guidelines are met; prioritizes shop expenditures to stay within budget and assists in preparation of capital and operations budgets.
- Interprets CRRC MA’s and department policies to assigned personnel and enforces safety regulations and adherence to company policy’s and standards.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work force.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems; initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials; sets up machines and equipment.
- Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- Perform related tasks as assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma is required, along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant manufacturing or similar experience.
- Must have a valid license and able to travel to field sites as necessary.
- Knowledge of mechanical installations, proper hand and power tool usage, torque wrenches, etc.
- Knowledge of electrical assembly including wire routing, terminal crimping, connector assembly, etc.
- Knowledge of IPC-620 (Wire & Cable Routing and Workmanship Standard) preferred.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Continuous Improvement and Standardized Work strongly preferred.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and others within the company 100% of time.
- Demonstrate product and process knowledge to newly learned techniques.
- Microsoft Office proficient.
