Job Title : Dispatch Manager
Location : Onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA (1332 Edgewood Rd SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404)
Job Schedule : We have 3 shifts available!
Part-Time Position
- Saturday & Sunday : 8 : 00AM - 8 : 00PM
- Monday : 4 : 00PM - 8 : 00PM
Second Shift Position (Thursday - Saturday and every other Wednesday)
Every other Wednesday : 11AM - 10PMThursday & Friday : 11AM - 10PMSaturday : 8AM - 8PM3rd Shift Position :
Sunday through Thursday : 7PM - 7AM (shift start on Saturday working through Friday night)Friday & Saturday : 8PM - 8AMJob Family :
Fleet operations is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a fleet of trucks. The main task is to ensure the fleet is well-maintained, meets legal requirements and operates efficiently to maximize productivity and minimize costs. This role involves managing and developing relationships with drivers to increase satisfaction and improve retention. Additionally, they work closely with drivers to coordinate deliveries and ensure timely arrival at destinations. Communication, analytical and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.
Job Summary :
Dispatch Managers supervise the entire fleet of drivers in a fast-paced environment. They are responsible for communicating with drivers, working one-on-one to solve problems and delivering solutions to ensure maximum utilization of driver hours as well as increasing driver satisfaction and retention.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Responsible for the direct management and supervision of drivers, including ensuring compliance with HOS and DOT regulations, adherence to company policies, safety, driver retention and timely movement of freightEstablishes solid business relationships and maintains open, accurate and timely two-way communication with drivers and other team membersExercises discretion and independent judgment to make safe decisions that balance the needs of the customer, driver and businessEnsures absolute confidentiality of customers and drivers; follows suggested guidelines for database managementAnalyzes scheduled pickup and delivery appointments daily; coordinates loads for drivers and confirms that each driver is fully informed of all customer and company expectations on every load at the point of dispatchMonitors freight movement to provide safe, on-time service and meet customer requirementsMonitors transit times of dispatched loads; anticipates and communicates any potential delays to ensure late loads are addressed with appropriate stakeholdersImplement contingency logistics plans to secure on-time freight delivery in the event of a breakdown or accidentMaintains knowledge of customer needs and expectationsAnswers a high volume of emails in a timely and professional manner throughout the dayAnswers the phone in an amiable and professional mannerAnswers questions within the area of the position’s responsibility or refers calls to the appropriate personComplies with all safety policies, practices and procedures, and reports all unsafe activities to a supervisor or human resourcesParticipates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goalsCommunicates with Customers in a timely manner on late pickups / deliveries or issues with loadsUpdates load information based on customer updatesCommunicates any load changes to driversCommunicates with Customers in a timely manner on late pickups / deliveries or issues with loadsUpdates load information based on customer updatesPerform other duties as assignedRegular and reliable attendanceIdeal Experience & Skill Set :
