Job Summary: The Desktop Technician I is responsible for maintaining computer hardware, troubleshooting desktop issues, and performing software installations and upgrades. This role includes documenting support activities, contributing to IT procedures, and providing strong customer service by addressing user inquiries, participating in projects, and ensuring effective system operations.
Location: On-Site Amherst, NY
Job Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
Compensation: $22-25/hr is the starting range (Pay Bi-Weekly) *A final amount is dependent on factors including prior relevant experience, knowledge, and location. Typically, selected candidates are hired at a rate between the minimum and midpoint of the range.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintain computer hardware by performing software installations and upgrades along with hardware repairs or replacements as needed
- Document incidents and problems, including troubleshooting steps and comments, in an incident management system
- Ensure successful daily user operations by responding to incidents, troubleshooting desktop issues, performing diagnostic testing, and resolving desktop inquiries
- Accurately document support issues, activities, and resolutions and communicate user feedback to managers and IT team members
- Monitor system changes, understand their impact on end users, and perform hardware and software installations and updates on desktop and laptop computers
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of IT procedures by identifying improvement opportunities, sharing best practices, and updating documentation as needed
- Participate in small to medium-sized projects, such as system upgrades or equipment deployments
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others to handle critical situations calmly and confidently
- Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication with a professional demeanor and polished phone skills
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills, including the ability to listen, interpret, and explain computer-related concepts in non-technical terms
- Exhibit strong troubleshooting skills in an enterprise environment and the ability to multitask
- Possess strong knowledge of current operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS), software products, and basic network configurations
- Perform other duties as assigned including backups, security updates, and inventory management
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- High school diploma or GED
- Powershell experience
- Experience with Remote Management Tool (RMM)
- Desktop Support experience
- Familiarity with Microsoft Intune
