Job Description

Associate Underwriter Trainee, E&S Property - Starting July 2025

Primary Location: Morristown, NJ (Onsite minimum of three days per week)

Information about the Line of Business

E&S Property includes all risk (including catastrophe) property insurance coverage, for a variety of occupancies focusing on Commercial Real Estate, Education, Habitational, Healthcare, Hospitality, Retail, Public Entity, and Financial Institutions. Technical Risks specializes in coverage for complex catastrophe exposures, as well as technical risks driven by heavy equipment and machinery exposures.

Products

Insurance coverages available include Property Damage, Business Interruption, All Risk Property Damage and Time Element, DIC Earthquake, Manufacturing and Processing Industries. What YOU will do:

In this position you will be responsible to perform all pre-quote work required by underwriting. You will prepare and run Catastrophe Modeling for accounts using RMS tools (Risk Browser), process endorsements, calculate return premiums and additional premiums utilizing complex rate structures. In addition, you will issue policies and endorsements within department standards under direction from an underwriter. You will populate exposure information within a proprietary database, run reports on the property portfolio, complete the underwriting workbench with key account information and assist in the preparation of quote and binder documentation as directed.

What YOU will bring to C&F:

• 0 to 2 years’ of relevant experience and/or equivalent in internships.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of programs with an advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an aptitude for math.
• Solid customer service and relationship building skills.
• A proven team player with a drive to succeed.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• College degree (BS or BA).

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $50,900.00 to a maximum of $74,700.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
