THE ROLE
Funimation is looking for an ADR Script Writer for a full-time writing position. The candidate must have at least 5 years of demonstrated ADR, dubbing, or equivalent experience; exposure to ADR script writing; and a firm grasp on the transition from translation to dub. This is a deadline-conscious role and will involve a quick transition from training to independent implementation.
Our ADR Writer must show discretion with sensitive information and materials as you work with properties that have not yet been released to the public.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform research of assigned properties using internal resources, online tools, and social media throughout the process.
- Transform provided English translations of Japanese scripts into adapted spoken-word English scripts; matching animated mouth-flaps, as well as maintaining creative standards as set by the company.
- Work with ADR voice directors on each episode, providing adjustments as needed, and making workflow or creative changes as requested for future episodes.
- Track and report on episode line count as weekly deadlines are met.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of professional ADR and/or dubbing experience and an open mind to the flexibility of the dubbing process as we try innovative approaches to provide our fans with the dubs they love.
- 1 years of script adaptation experience
- Excellent writing skills; both technical and creative use of language a must.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Experience working under tight deadlines
- General understanding of anime dubbing
- Direct, professional experience with anime dubbing is a plus
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- There may be a preliminary trial script to ensure the best fit possible with our dubbing standards.
