Job Description
Context
Hi! We're an investment firm, based out of Austin TX and NYC, with a growing private credit division. Although we have phenomenal counsel in many states, we're looking for our first in-house counsel hire in Kentucky who can manage and scale legal operations in the state.
Given that our Kentucky operations are rapidly growing, but still small in the grand scheme of things, we're hoping to start on a part-time basis with the goal to transition to a full-time role within 90 days. This role is perfect for you if you have 5-10 hours a week free now and are an organized, high-energy person who's excited to work with a small and lean finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Litigation Preparation & Filings : Draft, organize, and file legal documents in various Kentucky courts, ensuring all deadlines and procedural requirements are met.
- Case Strategy & Resolution : Pursue favorable outcomes by monitoring case progress, leading further litigation when needed, structuring settlements, and pursuing alternative dispute resolution options when available.
- Local Compliance : Monitor and interpret Kentucky-specific laws and regulations relevant to our operations.
- Coordination with Counsel : Collaborate with external counsel and internal teams to streamline communication, develop legal strategies, and manage operations effectively.
- Process Improvement : Identify and implement efficient workflows for legal documentation, case management, and reporting.
