JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY - Maintenance Tech

The Brewery Maintenance Tech conducts machine set up, troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance service on our brewery equipment (boilers, hydraulic, pumps, electrical motors, refrigeration, glycol cooling system, HVAR, malt mill system, and air compressors, CO2 and N2 gas systems) and packaging machinery (keg washer, keg filler, can line, bottle lines). They are responsible for keeping all packaging lines and all production equipment running to its full potential with a minimum amount of downtime.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS (Performed with or without reasonable accommodation)


  • Install and maintain brewery equipment (boilers, hydraulic, pumps, electrical motors, refrigeration, glycol cooling system, HVAR, malt mill system, and air compressors) and packaging machinery (keg washer, keg filler, can line, bottle lines)
  • Perform daily inspection of packaging lines, brewery equipment and utilities
  • Maintain spare parts inventory
  • Establish a preventative maintenance program that uses a “canned” electronic program
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance
  • Keep records of repairs and develop or make necessary changes to planned maintenance schedule
  • Train leads and operators on proper operation of bottling, canning and racking machinery
  • Rebuild parts as needed
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair brewery and packaging equipment related problems such as mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic
  • Provide emergency unscheduled repairs of packaging equipment and brewery equipment as needed
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and other tools to complete repairs
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Top-notch mechanical skills and problem-solving capabilities are a must.
  • Strict attention to detail.
  • Experience in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to multitask are essential.
  • Provide technical expertise and direction for packaging material specifications and equipment designs, layout installation and startup.
  • Build and maintain solid relationships with all vendors. Maintain a minimum of two vendors for all critical items.
  • Ensure that packaging equipment is being properly maintained. Work with head brewer to schedule preventative maintenance and training if needed.
  • Work with operators to learn the correct/intended function of every machine. Must be able to operate those machines independently

  • Must be able to utilize lock out/tag out for machinery
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, prints and schematics, operating manuals, and repair manuals
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently with minimal training or supervision
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and precision
  • Strong troubleshooting/problem solving/logic/process of elimination skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - Maintenance Tech

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Four-year College degree is a plus
  • 4 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic preferably in the food or beverage industry
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, mobile applications, and technology

JOB REQUIREMENTS - Maintenance Tech


  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Valid driver’s license in the State of Oregon, proof of insurance and a clean driving record
  • Drug Free
  • Reliable transportation for work
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening, weekends, and holidays
  • A 90-day probation period with a strict review will be conducted to determine if employee is meeting expectations of Crux

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Maintenance Tech


  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
  • While primarily an indoor job, must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat)
  • Must be able to work in hot, cold, and wet environments
  • Must be able to climb stairs both inside and outside and frequently lift 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 60 lbs.
  • Must be able to drive vehicles with either a manual and / or automatic transmission
  • Must be able to use a ladder, i.e., work at heights of 10 ’ above grade
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
