The Pub Assistant Manager supports the Pub General Manager. They provide oversight and support to all staff positions in the front of the house, as well as oversee and coordinate the day-to-day FOH operations of the Pub, including but not limited to the duties & responsibilities outlined. The responsibilities include, hiring and training of both Floor Supervisors and hourly teams, daily execution of safety/sanitation, quality food preparation and guest service. The Pub Assistant Manager will also identify repetitive processes that should be streamlined and standardized in order to improve our efficient delivery of a superior customer experience at Crux (SOP development/implementation). It is essential that the Pub Assistant Manager form working relationships with all restaurant staff, as such strong team relationships will be essential to the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of the Pub.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS OF PUB ASSISTANT MANAGER (Performed with or without reasonable accommodation)

  • Provide oversight and management of all pub operations to provide a heightened brand experience for guests and ensure profitability.
  • Work with the FOH, BOH and finance personnel to draft and reinforce SOPs in all areas of pub operations in order to ensure sound business planning and profitable execution.
  • Coordinate the long-term planning for major events and seasonal planning (summer and winter). Focus program management on task responsibilities, accountability, timetable, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with marketing to promote pub events via social media and public relations
  • Maintain the facility and grounds at a very high level.
  • Fully understand and support all policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and training programs whether company and/or state and federal agencies.
  • Set up opening and closing tills, separating, and counting tips, logging daily deposits, and making cash exchanges. Control cash by adhering to company cash-handling reconciliation procedures.
  • Making bank deposits when needed.
  • Assign service sections, manage labor needs based on business levels.
  • Communicate side-work, and provide follow-up and check outs for service personnel, ensuring all checklists are completed.
  • Update beer menu and digital tap board as needed.
  • Lead team meetings at 11:00 am and 4:00 pm – noting new beers, specials, out of stock items, events, etc.
  • Help to achieve company goals in sales, labor, quality, cleanliness, and service. Efficiently monitor discounts and waste.
  • Possess the ability to multi-task and react with urgency and consideration to team and guest needs.
  • Ensure all guests are having the best “Cruxperience” – that they feel welcome and are being given responsive, friendly, and courteous service at all times.
  • Ensuring all FOH staff members are supported while helping to create a positive, productive work environment.
  • Follow proper serving procedures, pouring procedures and provide proper training in all facets of the front of house operations. Assist in updating FOH training documents as needed.
  • Promote team building through communication, sales contests, and training.
  • Attend mandatory weekly management meetings and mandatory monthly staff training meetings.
  • Use communication with other FOH Supervisors and BOH leads in addressing concerns. Listening to, understanding, clarifying, and resolving concerns and issues raised in a timely manner.
  • When addressing staff for development – provide “off-floor” correction when possible. Address tardiness and developmental concerns with team member and communicate in Shift Notes when coaching was provided.
  • Event booking and event planning

QUALIFICATIONS OF PUB ASSISTANT MANAGER

  • Effective Communicator – possesses strong verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Enthusiasm – understands the dynamics of craft beer, especially local and regional offerings. Remains abreast of competitive trends, local events, and other factors affecting the ecosystem in which Crux does business
  • Leadership – able to lead others through positive encouragement
  • Personal Integrity – exhibits a high degree of professionalism and commitment to following through and achieving results
  • Organizational skills – able to prioritize both day to day and long-term projects
  • Results Focused – self-motivated, works as hard and long as needed to achieve results.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE OF PUB ASSISTANT MANAGER

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2 years Food Service experience, preferably with a Brewery-restaurant
  • Management experience
  • Point of Sale experience
  • Event booking and planning experience preferred


JOB REQUIREMENTS OF PUB ASSISTANT MANAGER

  • Certifications: Cicerone Beer Server, OLCC Service Permit, Oregon Food Handler
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Valid driver’s license in the State of Oregon, proof of insurance and a clean driving record
  • Reliable transportation for work
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening, weekends, and holidays as necessary


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
  • While primarily an indoor job, must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat)
  • Must be able to work in hot, cold, and wet environments
  • Must be able to lift 10-30 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
