About the role
The Fire Alarm CAD Designer will be responsible for creating detailed CAD drawings and technical plans for fire alarm systems. This role requires a solid understanding of fire alarm design standards, regulations, and the ability to work with engineers and project managers to produce accurate and comprehensive design documentation.
What you"ll do
Develop detailed, accurate CAD drawings for fire alarm systems based on project requirements and specifications.
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand system requirements and incorporate changes into CAD designs.
Ensure designs comply with local, state, and national fire safety codes and standards (NFPA, NEC, etc.).
Review and modify existing fire alarm system designs to ensure compatibility with building layouts and other system installations.
Create system schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout plans for fire alarm systems.
Provide technical support to the installation team by ensuring all design documents are clear and accurate.
Prepare detailed bill of materials (BOM) and other necessary project documentation.
Maintain organized records of all design work and revisions.
Stay up-to-date with fire alarm industry trends, new technologies, and code changes.
Qualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Fire Protection Technology, or related field (preferred).
Proven experience (2 years) as a CAD designer, with a focus on fire alarm systems or similar electrical systems.
Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software, specifically for creating fire alarm system designs.
In-depth knowledge of fire alarm codes and standards (NFPA 72, NEC, etc.).
Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Knowledge of fire alarm system components, equipment, and wiring practices.
Ability to interpret architectural and electrical drawings.
