Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Fire and Security Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and servicing a variety of fire and security systems, including fire alarms, CCTV, access control, and intruder alarms. The role involves working with the client, office staff and AHJs, ensuring all systems meet industry standards and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation & Commissioning: Install, test, and commission fire alarms, CCTV systems, access control systems, and intruder alarms for commercial properties.
- Maintenance & Service: Perform regular maintenance, service, and repairs on existing fire and security systems, ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly and compliant with regulations.
- Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in fire alarm, CCTV, and security systems, providing effective and timely solutions to minimize downtime.
- System Upgrades: Assist with system upgrades and replacements, ensuring installations meet the latest industry standards and client needs.
- Client Interaction: Liaise directly with clients to provide updates, system information, and answer technical questions regarding fire and security systems.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all installations and service work comply with relevant industry standards and regulations. Maintain accurate documentation and service records.
- Training & Support: Provide on-site training to clients on system operation and basic troubleshooting techniques, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Emergency Response: Be available for emergency service calls as required to troubleshoot and resolve urgent issues, ensuring minimal disruption to clients.
- Health & Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, ensuring work is carried out safely and responsibly.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in the fire and security industry, specifically with fire alarms, CCTV, access control, and intruder alarms.
- Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of fire and security systems and their components, including wiring, programming, and troubleshooting.
- Certifications: NICET, NTS Level 2, Genetec, Bosch, Software House, Avigilon or similar qualifications.
- Knowledge of Standards: Familiarity with industry standards and regulations and relevant health and safety guidelines.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with a focus on delivering practical solutions under pressure.
- Communication: Strong communication skills to interact with clients and team members in a clear and professional manner.
- Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
- Driving License: Clean driving license for travel to client sites, as required.
- Flexibility: Ability to work outside of regular hours (e.g., evenings, weekends) when necessary, particularly for emergency call-outs.
- Experience with integration of fire and security systems.
