Duties/Responsibilities:
- Help plan and develop designs for transportation facilities for private, commercial, and public sector clients.
- Collaborates with clients, utility companies, government agencies, and/or the general public to identify project constraints and develop design alternatives and concepts for transportation improvement projects.
- Develops and presents design study reports in accordance with government agency criteria.
- Prepares plans, specifications, and engineer's estimates for construction of:
- roadways, trails, traffic signals, and non-motorized transportation systems.
- roadway resurfacing and rehabilitation projects.
- Collects traffic data and performs traffic studies and analysis.
- Works with permitting agency staff to meet local code requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of civil engineering concepts and practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Municipality of Anchorage, State of Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities, and/or Washinton State Department of Transportation standards and design criteria.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
- Licensed engineer-in-training.
- Proficient AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to work in a team environment with multi-discipline engineering staff at various experience levels.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to travel to various project sites.
- Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
