We are seeking a full-time Entry-level Accountant in our Anchorage office to play a key role in supporting the continued success of our company. Under the guidance of our Accounting Manager, this position will assist in delivering precise financial data regarding the company’s financial position, liquidity, and cash flows, while ensuring full compliance with all tax regulations.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable:
a. Code accurately, obtain approvals, and voucher trade and subconsultant invoices. Process weekly check runs and
ensure timely payment. Communicate with vendors to resolve any discrepancies.
b. Process weekly employee reimbursements, ensuring accurate coding. Communicate with employees to address and
resolve any discrepancies.
c. Upload and process credit card charges into the accounting software, ensuring accurate categorization and
documentation.
d. Post petty cash entries and ensure proper documentation. Generate and send past-due AR statements to clients in a
timely manner.
- Accounts Receivable: Process receipts promptly to ensure accurate updates to the Accounts Receivable Aging report. Communicate with clients to resolve any discrepancies.
- Top of Form
- Bottom of Form
- Project setup in Deltek Vantagepoint. Update and revise projects as needed.
- Project billing: Prepare monthly client invoices according to contract requirements.
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
- File annual Form 1099 NEC & MISC.
- Monitor Accounting Inbox & AP Inbox and organize emails.
- Participate in activities that support the effective management and operation of the team.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by Accounting Manager.
- Files monthly, quarterly and annual Sales Taxes.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- A proactive, self-driven individual who takes full ownership of responsibilities and the role.
- Strong ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
- A quick learner with the ability to adapt and acquire new skills efficiently.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize tasks, and function well in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, or similar software.
Education and Experience:
- Recent graduates or upcoming graduates with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. No work experience is required. Have basic understanding of debits and credits.
- Will consider candidates with an associate’s degree in accounting who have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods at a desk while working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
