- Ability to work 2nd (3pm to 11pm) or 3rd shift (11pm to 7am)
- A mechanical aptitude with the ability to figure out how machines operate.

- Insert material for printing or addressing ex. Inkjet and inserters.
- Accept and check containers of mail or parcels prior to distributions mailers, couriers, and contractors, and USPS.
- Adjust guides, rollers, loose card inserters, and weighing machines.
- Inspect mail machine output for defects; determine how to eliminate causes of any defects.
- Lift and unload containers of mail or parcels onto equipment for transportation to sortation stations.
- Place incoming or outgoing letters or packages into sacks or bins based on destination or type, and place identifying tags on sacks or bins.
- Read production orders to determine types and sizes of items scheduled for mailing.
- Remove containers of sorted mail/parcels and transfer them to designated areas according to established procedures.
- Verify that items are addressed correctly, marked with the proper postage, and in suitable condition for processing.
- Clear jams in sortation equipment.
- Seal or open envelopes, by hand or by using machines.
- Wrap packages or bundles by hand.
- Review job jackets to determine components, settings, and adjustments for equipment.
- Remove defective or substandard materials from machines and readjust machine components so that product meets standards.
- Adjust machine controls to alter position, alignment, speed, or pressure.
