Position Title : 2025 Special Events Co-Op

Division : Culinary Operations

Department : Special Events

Reports to : Manager, Special Events

Position Summary :

The Special Events Co-op at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and the Momentary offers a unique opportunity for students enrolled in hospitality or event planning programs to gain real-world experience in event planning and management. This position allows students to apply their classroom knowledge in a professional setting.

Selected students will be part of an ongoing cohort-based internship program, collaborating with a team of professionals. By participating in this co-op, students will build local and national industry connections, develop essential skills, and gain access to valuable resources. This experience will also provide opportunities for resume enhancement and allow students to explore potential career paths in the industry.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Learn to plan, organize and execute internal and external events
  • Create detailed plans including timelines, budgets and logistics
  • Identify internal and external stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with various vendors
  • Learn how to read and negotiate contracts
  • Learn how to oversee al aspects of event execution including setup, logistics and breakdown
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as Marketing and Public Relations to promote events through various channels
  • Learn how to track event expenses
  • Submit post event reports

Qualifications :

  • The student selected for this position must be available from March 3rd through November 8th (including the summer). Please review the schedule below for additional information.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited program at a local college or university within the Northwest Arkansas region and taken courses in one or more of the following Hospitality Management, Travel &Tourism, Beverage Management, Meeting Planning, Event Management, Purchasing and Cost Control, etc.

  • Timeline :

    Intern selected by : January 20th

    Anticipated Start Date : March 3rd

    Anticipated End Date : November 8th

    Schedule :

  • March 3rd-May 10th (20 hours a week)
  • May 12th-May 31st (30 hours a week)
  • June 2nd-July 26th (35 hours a week)
  • July 27th-August 9th (30 hours a week)
  • August 11th-November 8th (20 hours a week)
  • Weekly schedule to be arranged with direct supervisor To qualify for bachelor's or master's hours, you must be enrolled in an accredited program or have graduated from an accredited program within the last three years. Students will be required to submit a current schedule or official transcript.

    Compensation :

    Undergraduate Interns : $13.00 an hour

    To qualify for bachelor's compensation, you must be enrolled in an accredited program or have graduated from an accredited program within the last three years. Students will be required to submit a current schedule or official transcript. Students currently enrolled in high school will qualify for the high school rate which is $12.00 an hour.

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an intern to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Physical demands : In the work environment described below, position requires work at a desk, utilizing a computer and a telephone for prolonged periods of time, good eye / hand coordination, bending and stretching for filing, and physical stamina to lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of at least three feet for file and materials storage as appropriate for the demands of the office. Visual acuity to review written materials is required for this job.
  • Work environment : Work will be performed in an office environment and museum spaces. The noise level in the museum work environment is usually low to moderate. If the intern's personal equipment is used, the museum accepts no liability for any damage caused to said equipment while being used for museum purposes, nor loss or corruption of electronic files on devices.

In addition, you will need to provide proper identification verifying your eligibility to work in the United States on your first day of work.
