We are seeking an experienced Transportation Supervisor to oversee the safe and efficient transportation of our products. The ideal candidate will have experience dispatching and supervising drivers, knowledge of hazardous materials, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations, promoting safety, and providing excellent customer service. The Transportation Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating driver schedules, coaching drivers, maintaining local equipment, selecting carriers, and ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate driver schedules to comply with Federal and State safety and DOT Hours of Service regulations
  • Utilize equipment and plan assigned fleet to ensure we are providing the most safe and cost-efficient service possible
  • Coach and train drivers on safe driving practices
  • Promote safety and encourage a culture of safety across fleet and assist with developing and implementing safety and compliance initiatives
  • Review unassigned loads, select carrier and tender shipments to meet service requirements
  • Perform administrative functions including data entry into TMS, preparing hazardous material manifests and collecting driver paperwork
  • Oversee maintenance of equipment, including pre & post-trip inspections, ensuring that all vehicles and equipment are in good working order
  • Maintain accurate records and update daily/weekly reports, including driver check-in, equipment maintenance, shuttle activity, and driver performance evaluations
  • Collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure that all aspects of the transportation process are running smoothly
  • Ensure compliance with all Corporate Transportation directives and regulations
  • Oversee local carrier and driver orientation and related onboarding training

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation or related field - OR - 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
  • 2 years of dispatch experience
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, dispatching hazardous materials and safety procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Experience using Microsoft Office - Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word

Physical Demands

The Transportation Supervisor may be required to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods, lift heavy objects, operate machinery, and climb ladders to access tanker trailer hatches. Working Conditions

The Transportation Supervisor may be required to work in various conditions, including outdoor environments and in close proximity to hazardous materials. Personal protective equipment may be required.

Work Environment

While performing essential duties of this position the Transportation Supervisor will regularly work both indoors and outdoors with moderate physical activity including, driving, walking, lifting objects up to 30 pounds and climbing. Individual will be required to regularly speak, hear, see, and often reach with hands, stand, walk, use a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment. Noise level of the environment is variable, but generally not quiet. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 a year, and includes benefits such as the following:
