Our Janitorial Manager oversees cleaning operations, manages staff, and ensures facilities are maintained to high cleanliness and safety standards. Key responsibilities include:
Staff Management & Training
- Hire, train, and supervise janitorial staff.
- Create work schedules and assign tasks.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
- Address any employee concerns or conflicts.
Cleaning Operations & Quality Control
- Ensure all areas are cleaned and maintained according to company and client standards.
- Conduct routine inspections to verify cleanliness and safety.
- Implement and enforce cleaning protocols, including health and sanitation guidelines.
- Respond to client or management concerns regarding cleanliness and maintenance.
Inventory & Equipment Management
- Order and manage cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of janitorial equipment.
- Keep track of supply inventory and prevent shortages.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all employees follow safety procedures and use cleaning chemicals properly.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations.
- Provide training on proper handling of hazardous materials and emergency procedures.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain records of cleaning schedules, inspections, and supply usage.
- Communicate with upper management and clients regarding janitorial needs.
- Manage budgets and control costs related to cleaning operations.
- Prepare reports on cleaning performance and staff productivity.
Janitorial Manager Qualifications
Our Janitorial Manager should have a combination of experience, skills, and certifications to effectively oversee cleaning operations and manage staff. Below are the key qualifications:
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in management, facility maintenance, or a related field is a plus.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in janitorial, custodial, or facility management.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a cleaning or maintenance environment.
- Proven experience in janitorial and custodial roles
- Strong knowledge of commercial cleaning techniques and floor care
- Familiarity with facilities maintenance and industrial cleaning practices
- Ability to perform residential painting and maintenance tasks
- Experience in buffing and porter duties
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Time management and organizational skills to oversee multiple locations or teams.
- Attention to detail to ensure cleanliness standards are met.
- Problem-solving skills to address staff or facility-related issues.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, scheduling software, Clean Smarts, etc.).
Technical & Safety Knowledge
- Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, equipment, and best practices.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety.
- Understanding of proper waste disposal and environmental regulations.
- Experience with inventory management and ordering supplies.
Certifications (Preferred but Not Required)
- OSHA 10 or 30 Certification (for workplace safety).
- Custodial Technician Certification (offered by ISSA or similar organizations).
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday , On Call weekends
In-time: 3:00pm
This position is Full-Time.
