Position Summary
The Manager of Nursing Operations Manager (Throughput Manager) will have insight into all patient activity, including admissions (scheduled and unscheduled), discharges, PACU status, placement issues, and delays. They will also be aware of how to add cases to the surgery schedule, among other responsibilities. The goal of the Nursing Operations Throughput Manager is to improve patient flow and experience while reducing waste and errors.
Essential Job Functions/Accountabilities:
Manage patient flow from admission to discharge. Manage the flexible resource department, including nurses for admission, discharge, and transfers. Oversee bed management.
Collaborate with various departments to improve patient movement (i.e. therapy).
Analyze data to identify bottlenecks and implement efficient processes. Develop strategies to minimize delays.
Be able to function in the Nursing Supervisor role if needed.
Participate in reviewing patients who are ready for discharge.
Collect, analyze and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to patient flow and hospital operations. Use data to identify trends, drive process improvement initiatives and areas of concern.
Collect, analyze, and interpret patient flow data to identify trends and patterns.
Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations. Build and maintain relationships with nursing leadership, case management and other departments.
Provide education and training to staff on patient flow processes and best practice.
All other duties not specifically assigned.
Position Requirements
Education: Graduate of a school of nursing. Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Experience: Demonstrated leadership experience.
Technical Skills: N/A
Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: Current license to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio. BLS and ACLS required.
