Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fuel Truck and Trailer Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of fuel trucks and trailers through thorough inspections, maintenance, and repairs. Your expertise will help maintain optimal performance and safety standards, supporting our operations alongside a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on fuel trucks and trailers to uphold safety regulations and operational excellence.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in fuel delivery systems, including pumps, hoses, pipes, and valves.
- Perform adjustments and alignments on trailers to ensure proper handling and functionality.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations through thorough inspections and meticulous documentation.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and vehicle computer systems to interpret failure modes and execute effective repairs.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Actively communicate with team members and management about necessary repairs, maintenance schedules, and potential issues, cultivating a culture of collaboration and teamwork.
- Engage in team meetings to share insights and contribute to the continuous improvement of operational efficiency.
- Build and sustain positive working relationships with colleagues, vendors, and customers, embodying a supportive team spirit.
- Work independently when necessary while consistently demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to team success.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a mechanic specializing in trucks and trailers.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, electronic diagnostics, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations related to fuel handling and transportation.
- Proficiency with computer systems for diagnostic and record-keeping purposes.
- A valid mechanic’s license and specific certifications related to diesel mechanics are preferred but not required.
