Job Summary :

The continuous improvement specialist initiates and supports continuous improvement (CI) programs and activities. They also assist in the development of programs that educate teammates about lean concepts that lead to the identification, development, and implementation of improvements. Typical improvement activity results in improved, productivity, quality, and cost reductions. Provides CI activity support to all Crystal Group departments.

Essential Functions

  • Supports and facilitates the ongoing lean improvement process using techniques such as Kaizen, 5S, TPM, Kanban, Policy Deployment, etc.
  • Provides lean improvement orientation and on-the-job training for teammates and ensures that the responsibilities are defined and understood and oversees the lean projects.
  • Identify ongoing lean improvement training needs and assist with developing and implementing the required training.
  • Identify needs relating to improvements in safety / ergonomics and assist in developing and implementing solutions to these issues.
  • Provide input into metrics to monitor financial savings as compared to established goals and targets.
  • Develop and maintain annual value stream mapping efforts, CI plans, and calendars.
  • Provide support to internal customers in support of all Crystal Group added initiatives.
  • Assist department in data collection and document creation efforts

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Six Sigma or lean experience preferred
  • Strong change management skills to assist in the practical implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and concepts.
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a functional level.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to organize and plan use of time and people effectively and efficiently.
  • Must be able to use normal office equipment (scanner, printer, copier, computer)
  • Must be able to talk / hear / sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Working knowledge of lean concepts
  • Ability to speak in front of small groups
  • Basic Qualification

  • Must be a US Person (US Citizen, person granted US Permanent Resident Card or any individual who is granted status as a "protected person")
  • Bachelor's degree in business or engineering or associate's degree with Lean / Six Sigma experience in lieu of degree
  • Zero to three years manufacturing experience preferred
