Job Description
The Data Architect position requires a high level of
analytical and creative skills, along with in-depth knowledge of data systems
and database methodology, design and modeling.
The Data Architect
will be responsible for designing logical models for relational and
multi-dimensional data stores and subsequently building the physical database
model. The architect defines
data/information architecture standards, processes and data warehouse policies
and procedures. This role facilitates standard business analysis practices and
their translation into functional technical requirements that are integrated
into the enterprise information system architecture. The Data Architect ensures
enterprise solution development is suitable to achieve consistency of
information assets across the application framework.
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform source system analysis and meet with
business stakeholders in order to create appropriate requirement definition
artifacts.Work closely with Business Intelligence Analysts, Data
Analysts and Software Developers to ensure customer needs are being met in the
areas of reporting and analytics.Design and develop highly scalable and optimized
data models, by utilizing modeling software to document and maintain versions
to support Data Marts, Cubes, Data Warehouse, and Operational Data Stores
(ODS).Develop data standards in terms of nomenclature,
storage, design and deployments.Design ETL and ELT guidelines to ensure efficient
and accurate data transfer within the entire BI System.Assist with optimizing source system replication
models and operationsImplement a robust data solution using available
database tools.Design and maintain enterprise meta-data solution to
communicate data definitions to the BI audience.Design and develop data quality rules for Data
Warehouse and Data Mart solutions to ensure data integrity levels are met.Research new database technologies and recommend
solutions in order to improve performance, scalability, & storage.Must be able to communicate timely and
effectively in order to plan and coordinate team resources.Train, lead, and mentor staff that may include
database engineers, data architects, and DBAsProviding leadership in establishing and
documenting data standardsCreating and testing database prototypes
Qualifications
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in computer science,
information systems or a related field, Masters preferred; or equivalent relevant
experienceMinimum 7 years of experience in computer
science, information systems or a related field, plus several years of
experience working with major database platforms, such as Microsoft SQL Server,
Oracle and IBM DB2. Microsoft SQL Server
is preferred.Experience with building and maintaining physical
and logical database modelsKnowledge of a typical Software Design Lifecycle
(SDLC)Knowledge of Master & Meta data management
tools and techniquesExperience with MS SQL Server and the MS development
stackKnowledge of clinical and financial systems within
