Job Description
We are seeking experienced Journeyman Fiber Splicers to join our team and support various OSP (Outside Plant) and ISP (Inside Plant) construction projects.
The Fiber Splicer (Journeyman "A") is responsible for splicing fiber optic cables using both fusion and mechanical connector methods. This role requires a thorough understanding of both legacy and modern fiber networks, as well as preparing post-splicing cut sheets for engineering documentation.

Role and Responsibilities for the Fiber I&R Technician
Perform fusion and mechanical splicing for fiber optic cables in the field and on pigtails.
Open and close cables, handle pigtails in organizer shelves, and install closures based on company standards.
Operate All Standard Types Of Testing Equipment, Including
Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR)
Power Meters
Visual Fault Locators (VFL)
Work with legacy fiber optic systems as well as modern networks to troubleshoot, splice, and repair infrastructure.
Prepare accurate and detailed post-splicing cut sheets for the engineering team, ensuring data integrity and clarity.
Operate and work safely in bucket trucks, following all safety protocols for aerial environments.
Work In Underground Environments, Including
Accessing and working within manholes
Unmounting and remounting equipment safely
Maintain and calibrate splicing and testing equipment.
Follow engineering designs and ensure any changes or additional splicing activities are approved by the engineering team prior to execution.
Ensure work meets all safety protocols and industry regulations.

Required Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience in fiber optic splicing, testing, and troubleshooting.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering designs, schematics, and test results.
Strong understanding of fiber optic principles and OSP/ISP network standards.
Ability to work with legacy fiber systems as well as modern optical networks.
Experience preparing post-splicing cut sheets and documentation for engineering teams.
Ability to operate bucket trucks and work safely in aerial environments.
Ability to work safely in underground environments, including manholes.
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate trucks and trailers up to 20,000# GVWR.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various environmental conditions.
Excellent communication skills for reporting and collaborating with engineering and construction teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) or equivalent certification.
Experience with fiber optic splicing for OSP construction projects.
Familiarity with industry standards for fiber optic testing and splicing.
Compensation
The pay is production based. Rates will be provided upon resume submission.
