CS Fabrication is seeking a skilled Steel Estimator / Project Manager to join our team. This dual-role position is responsible for estimating and managing structural steel, miscellaneous metals, and specialty metal fabrication projects from bid phase through completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in steel fabrication, project management, and cost estimation for commercial and industrial construction projects.
Estimating Duties:
Analyze construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications to develop accurate cost estimates.
Prepare detailed bids and proposals, including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
Work with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
Identify potential cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or project scope.
Collaborate with the sales team and executives to review bid strategies and ensure competitive pricing.
Submit bids and proposals in a timely manner and follow up with clients on project status.
Project Management Duties:
Oversee awarded projects from contract execution to final completion.
Coordinate with architects, engineers, general contractors, and clients to ensure project requirements are met.
Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring deadlines and milestones are achieved.
Monitor project budgets, track costs, and manage change orders.
Supervise shop fabrication and field installation, ensuring quality control and compliance with project specs.
Conduct site visits to assess project progress and troubleshoot potential issues.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
Communicate regularly with the operations team, ensuring alignment on project timelines and deliverables.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 5 years of experience in steel fabrication, estimating, and project management.
Strong knowledge of structural steel, miscellaneous metals, and specialty metal fabrication.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, and contract documents.
Experience with estimating software (e.g., Tekla EPM, FabTrol, Bluebeam, or similar).
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
Excellent project coordination, scheduling, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project).
Familiarity with safety standards, including OSHA compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with both manufacturing and construction projects.
Background in welding, steel erection, or metal fabrication.
Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
