Job Tasks, Duties, And Responsibilities
CS Medical develops, manufactures, and sells medical devices that clean and disinfect ultrasound probes. As a member of the Science team at CS Medical, the Chemist position is responsible for the chemistry aspects to support the development of current and future medical devices and products (cleaners, disinfectants, etc.). The chemist will be highly involved in developing and analyzing new and current chemicals used in our systems via high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and other methods. Your first and foremost goal will always be the safety of yourself and other CS Medical personnel in the performance of your duties.

This position will be based at our Creedmoor, NC office.
Terms of employment
This is a full-time, salary, exempt position.
Hours
The general hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5:00 pm, with an hour-long lunch break. Depending on project requirements or required audits by regulatory bodies, these hours may be modified to meet the business's demands.
Work Environment
The job operates in a combination space of office and laboratory. The role routinely uses an HPLC and standard lab equipment such as beakers, test tubes, flasks, thermometers, balances, incubators, and computers.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is required to sit or stand. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Travel
Travel is not expected, but may occasionally occur for education/career development or corporate sponsored presentations at professional symposiums.

JOB DUTIES:
- Research and development to help support new and future products and devices (cleaners, disinfectants, devices, etc.)
- HPLC validation, method development, testing, and reporting
- Develop new scientific methods and assays via wet chemistry
- Understand and assist in chemical aspects of testing and products
- Evaluate internal and external scientific methods, procedures, and data
- Create and write validations, test protocols, and reports
- Follow and stay current with various regulatory agencies as required
- Assist in the development of standard operating procedures and maintain records to comply with regulatory requirements
- Consult with engineers and scientists on development, analysis, interpretation, and test results
- Maintain and troubleshoot equipment (HPLC, etc.)
- Chemical analysis to support production and batch release
- Ensure health and safety within the laboratory
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. or B.A. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline
- Minimum of five years of experience in a chemistry or related laboratory
- Minimum of five years with HPLC work and assay development
- Experience working in a laboratory setting, analytical skills, sample extraction and analysis, HPLC, titrations, and experience with bioanalytical methods
- Ability to interpret analysis from outside sources (example: HPLC, GC, validations, etc.)
- Understanding of organic and inorganic compounds
- Determine the relationship of chemicals and physical properties, compositions, structures, and reactions of organic and inorganic compounds using chromatography, spectrophotometry, or other methods as necessary
- PC skills and ability to learn new software and systems
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with technical staff at all levels in a team-based environment
- Detail and quality oriented
- Ability to work independently
- Willingness to travel in the US occasionally
- Working knowledge of Quality Assurance and Good Laboratory Practices
- Masters in chemistry or biochemistry
- Experience with EPA, EU, FDA, and Health Canada submissions
- HPLC and GC experience
- Medical device experience
- Liquid chemical sterilant and/or high-level disinfectant experience
- Project deadlines are timely met
- Research and development of new methods and assays
- Research and development for current or new products
- Recording, analyzing, and interpreting data
- Write validations, methods, protocols, and reports
- Keeping up to date with scientific and research developments
- Maintaining a safe work environment
