Job Description

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music education, experience in classroom management, and the ability to foster a love for music in students from diverse backgrounds. This position will involve teaching both band and choir classes, providing students with high-quality music education while maintaining the continuity of the curriculum during the absence of the full-time teacher.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lesson plans for both band and choir classes that align with the school’s curriculum and educational standards.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, creativity, and collaboration.
• Assist students in learning music theory, technique, and performance skills through various teaching methods.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and opportunities for involvement in the music program.
• Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a respectful and productive learning environment.
  
  

Qualifications

• Some college is required (60 college credits). Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field preferred;
• Valid teaching certification in Music Education, or eligibility to obtain a permit.
• Experience teaching band and choir at the preferred.
• Proficiency in multiple musical instruments and knowledge of vocal techniques.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities and commitments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
