Logistics Coordinator

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the

transportation of goods within an asset-based carrier environment. This role involves managing the logistics operations, ensuring the timely and efficient movement of freight, maintaining communication with customers, drivers, and other stakeholders, and optimizing routing and scheduling to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Shipment Coordination:

• Book and plan freight shipments for effective capacity management.
• Schedule and coordinate freight shipments, ensuring timely pickup and delivery.
• Monitor and track shipments throughout the transportation process, providing updates to stakeholders as necessary.
• Maintain and track truck/trailer inventory.
• Communication and Customer Service:
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, drivers, and other logistics partners, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers/drivers to understand their logistics needs and expectations.
• Routing and Scheduling:
• Plan and optimize routes for drivers based on delivery schedules, traffic conditions, Log hours and customer requirements.
• Adjust schedules and routes as needed to accommodate changes in demand or unexpected delays.
• Documentation and Compliance:
• Ensure that all necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs paperwork, is accurate and completed in a timely manner.
• Monitor compliance with all transportation regulations and company policies.
• Performance Monitoring:
• Analyze logistics operations and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices.
• Prepare regular reports on shipment status, delivery performance, and customer satisfaction.
• Collaboration with Internal Teams:
• Work closely with the dispatch team, warehouse staff, and other internal departments to ensure seamless logistics operations.
• Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure the readiness and safety of equipment.
• Cost Management:
• Monitor transportation costs and work to identify opportunities for cost savings and increased efficiency.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting for logistics operations.
• Problem Solving:
• Proactively address and resolve any logistical challenges or disruptions that may arise during the transportation process.
• Develop contingency plans for potential issues to minimize impact on operations.
  
  

Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience in logistics coordination, freight dispatch, or transportation management, preferably in an asset-based carrier environment.
• Strong understanding of transportation regulations, industry best practices, and logistics software.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with logistics management software (TMS) is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
