Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Analysis and design of water/wastewater treatment processes including: preliminary treatment (screening, grit removal); primary treatment; sedimentation; secondary treatment (organics removal); disinfection (chlorination, UV); tertiary (nutrients, heavy metals); advanced (oxidation, membrane); Biosolids, potable water residuals; Equipment selection and functional specification development
Analysis and design of conveyance systems (gravity or forced).
Analysis and design of collector, intercept, and trunk sewers.
Analysis and design of flow diversion structures.
Prepare construction specifications for treatment equipment.
Integration and collaboration with management, planning, and production teams during project delivery phase.
Coordination of process design work with subconsultants, clients, owners, and partners to discuss project details, present ideas, and summarize concepts.
Prepare quantity takeoffs for water project components.
Prepare design reports, design calculations, analyze project alternatives, compare implementation costs.
Prepare abstracts, articles, and presentations.
Keep up to date on the latest treatment process and pumping equipment.
Collaborate with construction management and/or project management resources in the construction and post construction phases of water systems projects including startup and commissioning.
Participate in professional associations, and volunteer in association committees.
Travel occasionally to support work tasks or participate in conferences or professional events.
Responsible to certify (sign and seal) own work products.
Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
NY/NJ Registered EIT or PE license preferred
6-10 years of experience with wastewater engineering, pumping stations, WWTP process upgrades, compliance and equipment replacements required.
Ability to review design deliverables, make comments, revisions and respond to comments as part of the design process.
Ability to gather field data in support of project development.
Ability to meet with clients, partners, owners to discuss project details.
Ability to understand and describe environmental impacts, social impacts, and sustainability aspects.
Ability to understand constructability issues, construction sequencing, and construction processes.
Ability to prepare proposal scope of work development and effort estimates.
Availability to support water projects across all our offices.
Availability to obtain license in other jurisdictions.
