The Scale Operator is the first point of contact for customers in the quarry, and is responsible for weighing and ticketing of all trucks. Understand customers’ needs and requirements This position will regularly interact and work with vendors and outside customers as well as internal customers, and requires a highly motivated, detail oriented individual with a good work ethic.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Efficiently operate scale house
- Weigh each truck on entrance and exit and calculate tickets
- Schedule and direct trucks
- Work cooperatively with sales department and transportation team
- Answer incoming telephone calls
- Review tickets for completeness and accuracy; document, verify, and accurately fill out checks for customers, charge credit cards, and receive cash payments; obtain appropriate signatures
- Reconcile daily sales and submit appropriate paperwork
- Secure scale house and cash box at all times
- Research problem tickets and properly document findings
- Convey any known customer needs and/or complaints with the appropriate personnel
- Maintain housekeeping in and around scale house
- Follow federal, state, and local regulations, follow safety rules and company policies & procedures
- Represent CSA values and the CSA Brand at all times
- Perform related duties as required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Ability to identify problems and evaluate solutions or alternate approaches
- Strong written & verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in office computers and computer applications such as spreadsheets, email, PDF, and various software
- Ability to handle fast paced environment with changing priorities
- Outstanding customer service skills, including internal customers
- Excellent organizational time management
- Self-starter with ability to work with little or no supervision
- High ethical standards
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Some knowledge of legal weights & measures helpful
- Proficient in office computers and computer applications such as spreadsheets, email, PDF, and various software
- Work locally out of Midland with the ability to travel as needed, some overnight stays
- Must be able to work 10 hour shifts, possible weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred
- Valid driver’s license
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Ability to work in extreme outdoor weather
- Exposure to water, mud, dust, and loud noise
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to perform the following:
- Lift up to 20 pounds
- Stand or sit for extended periods of time
- View a computer terminal for extended periods of time
- Stand, climb, bend, Stoop, kneel, reach, stand, grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects
