Your Role
As a Homeowner Claims Desk Adjuster you will obtain and record required loss information from the insured. Under close supervision, you will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle low- to mid-complexity homeowner's property/personal property claims, including adjustment to conclusion. You will be the owning adjuster for all claims assigned. This position is expected to progress to the competency level of a Homeowner Claims Examiner. May be required to assign, coordinate, and oversee independent adjuster assignments.

Your Role
As a Homeowner Claims Desk Adjuster you will obtain and record required loss information from the insured. Under close supervision, you will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle low- to mid-complexity homeowner's property/personal property claims, including adjustment to conclusion. You will be the owning adjuster for all claims assigned. This position is expected to progress to the competency level of a Homeowner Claims Examiner. May be required to assign, coordinate, and oversee independent adjuster assignments.
Your Work
- Obtains and records first notice of loss from the insured.
- Handles all first-party coverages.
- Investigates claims and analyzes applicable state’s policy and endorsements in order to resolving all coverage questions associated with the claim. Determines and advises of all applicable coverage for the loss.
- Assigns more complex to appropriate level of staff.
- Arranges mitigation or other emergency services required to protect the property from further harm; accommodates the needs of the insured.
- In territories without field staff, will be required to virtually inspect the property (with assistance from customer, vendor, or IA) and write, review, and adjust contractor estimates.
- Properly reserves and pays claims when appropriate.
- Recognizes and prepares files for subrogation or SIU involvement.
- Handles all correspondence, including settlement, partial denials, and denials.
- May manage Independent Adjuster assignments. PA management and attorney representation on simpler claims.
- VMM, Wind and Theft primary LOB.
- Actively shapes our company culture (e.g., participating in employee resource groups, volunteering, etc.)
- Lives into cultural norms (e.g., willing to have cameras when it matters helping onboard new team members, building relationships, etc.)
- Travels as needed for role, including divisional/team meetings and other in-person meetings.
- Fulfills business needs, which may include investing extra time, helping other teams, etc.
- 1-3 years claims experience with a preferred emphasis on Homeowner claims.
- High School (HS) or GED.
- Proficient with computers and the ability to type 30 wpm.
- Ability to acquire and maintain regulatory adjusting license in the states where required.
- Experience interpreting homeowner policies, conducting investigations, and performing claims handling procedures.
- Experience writing estimates in Xactimate repair estimating system.
- Knowledge of home construction.
- Outstanding interpersonal and customer service abilities.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks using various applications.
- Analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Basic mathematics skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Shows respect for differences through excellent communication skills with people from an array of backgrounds.
