What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Scientist / Engineering Technician Position for Chicagoland position at CSD Environmental Services, Inc.?
CSD Environmental Services, Inc. is a provider of environmental consulting, site assessment, testing, remediation, and engineering services in the Midwest. CSD is certified with the Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) as a Female Owned Business Enterprise and is a certified DBE firm with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). CSD offers competitive compensation and benefits.
CSD is currently seeking an entry level Environmental Scientist / Engineering Technician in the Chicagoland area and surrounding suburbs to join our team. We’re looking for individuals with, at minimum, an associate degree in environmental science, civil/environmental engineering, geology, construction management, or any related fields. Because we perform varied consulting work across a few disciplines, this job’s responsibilities will vary but will chiefly include construction observation and monitoring as a subcontractor on IDOT projects, technical reporting and documentation for submittal to various agencies, bidding and letting, and environmental sampling and testing.
Experience with any of the above is valuable to us but also flexibility and ability to pick-up/work-out new tasks is also important as we find new niches in the environmental field to work in. Computer proficiency is a plus. The job entails using Excel and Adobe Acrobat primarily, but other programs may be utilized where needed and creative implementation of technology into our processes is always encouraged. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. This position includes both on-site field work at various project locations (generally within <1.5 hours of the Chicagoland area, returning home the same calendar day) and remote work-from-home office tasks. Our main headquarters is in Springfield, IL but travel to that location is on an as-needed basis (often only once a year or so). Additional short duration travel within Illinois may also be required a couple of times per year, with overnight stays on the order of 1-2 nights at a time. Travel and overnight expenses are paid by CSD. We are flexible on start date but would be happy to get you going as soon as possible.
