Job Summary
Are you passionate about science and are detail oriented? Join our team as a Histology Technician! As a histology technician, you will play a key role in preparing tissue samples for microscopic examination, working alongside our pathologists to support accurate diagnoses. You will be involved in tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining ensuring the highest quality slides for analysis. This is a part- or full-time position with a 4-day work week (min of 30 hours/wk) with no nights, no call, no weekends. We are a busy private practice group centrally located on Nicholasville Rd at New Circle. Other benefits include paid vacation time, sick time, and personal time as well as a uniform allowance. Histology experience is required.
Duties
- Prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination by performing embedding, sectioning, and staining.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Collaborate with pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure timely processing of samples.
- Conduct quality control checks on prepared slides to verify accuracy and reliability of results.
- Maintain accurate records of all procedures performed and results obtained.
- Adhere to aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during sample handling.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with advancements in histology practices.
Skills
- Experience working in a laboratory setting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and their application in a laboratory environment.
- Solid foundation in physiology and anatomy knowledge to accurately interpret histological findings.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
